How do I log a meal? Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen. You can search for food by name, scan a barcode, or pick from your recent and favourite foods. Enter the amount and tap Save.
How do I choose my creature? When you first open the app you’ll go through a short onboarding where you pick your creature type. Your choice also sets the app icon automatically. You can change the app icon later in Settings → App Icon.
What are evolution stages? Your creature levels up as you log meals consistently. There are 10 evolution stages — each one brings a new look for your creature. Keep your streak alive to keep evolving!
Where does the nutritional data come from? KalorKraken uses Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), a free, open-source food database with millions of products. If a product is missing or incorrect, you can contribute directly at openfoodfacts.org.
Can I add a food that isn’t in the database? Yes. In the food search screen, scroll down and tap Add custom food. Enter the name and nutritional values manually. Custom foods are saved locally for future use.
How is my calorie goal calculated? Your goal is based on the information you enter during onboarding (age, height, weight, activity level, and goal). You can update these at any time in Settings → My Profile.
What is a macro split? The macro split shows how many of your calories come from protein, carbohydrates, and fat. You can set your own target percentages in Settings → Nutrition Goals.
My creature isn’t evolving — why? Evolution requires consistent logging. Missing several days in a row can pause your progress. Try to log at least one meal per day to keep your streak going.
How do I unlock achievements? Achievements unlock automatically when you meet their criteria — no need to tap anything. You’ll see a notification banner when one unlocks. Check your full achievement list under the Progress tab.
Can I change my creature type after onboarding? Not currently. The creature type is tied to your profile from the start. This may change in a future update.
Is my data stored in the cloud? No. All your data — logs, measurements, creature progress — is stored only on your device. If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your iPhone, the data will be included in your regular device backup, handled entirely by Apple.
Can I export my data? Data export is on our roadmap for a future update.
I accidentally deleted a log entry. Can I recover it? Unfortunately not — deletions are permanent. As a workaround, you can re-add the entry manually.
How do I turn off daily reminders? Go to Settings → Notifications inside the app, or turn them off in iPhone Settings → KalorKraken → Notifications.
The barcode scanner isn’t working. Make sure KalorKraken has permission to use the camera: iPhone Settings → KalorKraken → Camera → Allow.
The app is running slowly or crashing. Try closing and reopening the app. If the problem persists, restart your iPhone. If it continues, please contact us (see below) with a description of what happened and which iPhone model you’re using.
A food’s nutritional values look wrong. The data comes from Open Food Facts and may occasionally contain errors. You can report incorrect entries directly at openfoodfacts.org to help improve the database for everyone.
